Suddenly Last Summer is a Southern Gothic mystery based on the play by the same name by the playwright Tennessee Williams. The film is about the death of Sebastian Venable, the son of a prominent family in New Orleans, Louisiana. At this meeting Mrs. Venable and the doctor take a stroll through her late son’s garden and see a number of peculiar things. First, the Venus flytrap, a plant that devours bugs and moves on to the next victim, like Sebastian does with lovers. Next Mrs. Venable takes Dr. Cukrowicz to Sebastian’s study, where on the way they pass a skeleton with one of the garden’s carnivorous birds on its head.
